We need your help. Many of you have been moved by the letters from our students in the past. You may remember that we had attached notes from our students to a few of our previous newsletters. We would like to continue to receive letters from students like those and the one attached, but without your encouragement, prayers and financial support it will not be possible. We hope that you will take time to read the enclosed letter. There are others like Edwin that China Mission Project sponsors.
We have seen God do amazing things in the short three years that they have been overseas. Students we have grown to know and love at the University and all over China are hungry for the truth and hungry for the real answers to life. Young people at the University continue to seek to know the Bible and hear the message of the grace and salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bible studies have increased; students are receiving Christ and being baptized. The students are desperate for moral guidelines and unconditional love. Even if we are unable to return, China still needs missionaries.
Budget Need - China Mission Project’s projected annual budget for 2006 for the Varella’s is estimated to be $45,000. Budget includes: housing (utilities and rent), transportation (car, car insurance, car repair and gas), travel (airfare, visitation to churches and other supporters) medical expenses (insurance, prescriptions), storage fee, student ministry and student needy fund. We are able to contribute $10,000 by working with our former employers when we are stateside. Many of you generously contributed $15,000 last year. We are asking you to continue to give and pray for help to make up the shortfall of $20,000. If God does not provide, we will return home to the states. It is most likely that David can return to his previous employment in space engineering and Susan to an administration position that can provide group health insurance and other normal employee benefits.
The budget to serve China would be covered if only 20 Churches gave $188 a month.
New Missionary—Krystal Morlan. We have a young new missionary member of our organization, Ms Krystal Morlan. She is a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University and a close friend of ours. Krystal left a management career at a hospital and decided to come to China. She is currently teaching at the University where God has moved her to a key positioned there to serve Him and influence the Chinese students. A modest budget for a missionary currently in her position is approximately $20,000 or $1666 per month. She also is seeking prayer and financial support to cover the same type of expenses listed above.
Prayer Support We have established a prayer support group coordinated by Jay and Veronica Widdows and Mr. & Mrs. _______________. They will organize the prayer effort for China Mission Project praying that it will stay the course and reach the Chinese with the power of God. In addition, we have appointed a development coordinator, Mr. _____________, who will work to stay in touch with those interested and called to support CMP. Mr. _________ will lead the effort to raise the support needed to reach the Chinese people.
How you can help--Some of our contributors have given significant help without spending cash. Here are just a few ideas of ways to support missionaries.
• Frequent flyer miles
• Lending a car
• Staying in your home or rental property
• Communicating encouragement through email
• Free weekend or evening cell phone minutes
• Doctor or Dentist service contribution
Generous people have helped us in all the ways listed above and there must be other creative ways you can contribute to any missionary’s ministry without actual giving money.
